For a third time in a row, BASF is bringing the concept of Innovation Hub events to 11 countries of Central and Southeast Europe giving the chance to regional innovators or start-ups to present themselves on BASF Innovation Hub 2023 and potentially secure investment for their future progress.
Participants from Romania will have a chance to pitch their ideas together with participants from Bulgaria and Greece. Two winners will automatically qualify for the Grand Finale, where they will once again present their ideas together with the rest of the winners from 11 countries of Central and Southeast Europe. Grand Finale winner will receive a prize in the amount of EUR 5,000 gross.
BASF Innovation Hub 2023 aims to support young innovators or start-up ideas that cover at least one of the following topics:
- Cleantech (examples: digital solutions that focus on increasing process and energy efficiency, solutions for increasing the share of renewable energies in power supply (thermal, solar, wind), thermal energy and insulation solutions, optimizing heating and cooling and ventilation, decarbonizing energy systems and promoting zero-emission technologies, biodegradable materials, biomass and nanotechnology solutions, smart transportation solutions);
- Circularity (examples: Solutions that contribute to more sustainable, more environmentally- respectful production cycles, digital base for closed-loop recycling, solutions for biodegradable and biobased plastics, bio/chemical recycling solution’s, recycling process catalysts, recycling of battery materials, resource-efficient products and services, increasing the share of renewable energies in circulation)
- Farm to fork (examples: precision application technologies, digital farming advisory services, digital farming solutions, solutions that contribute to more sustainable food systems, selective crop protection products, biological crop protection);

The applications will be open until September 29, 2023. The Local Jury from each cluster will choose top 5 competitors who will present their innovation ideas. Two of the five will get the chance to participate in BASF Innovation Hub 2023 Grand Finale, which will take place in November.
